A few months back, I was lucky enough to head to beautiful Carmel to photograph my dear relatives Suzie and Yui Hay. The scenes were breathtaking, the light perfect, and Suzie and Yui Hay were so happy. I love doing these kinds of portraits, where everything comes together perfectly. Here are a few of my favorites from their sweetheart session:
Jeanna + Peter Engagement in Knights Ferry
Jeanna and Peter's engagement session brought me again to the beautiful Knights Ferry. We met up at my favorite time of day - early evening just before sunset, and I was in heaven taking full advantage of golden hour with these two. Many many thanks to Adm's dad and renowned photojournalist Al Golub who was on hand to help with the shoot. We had a great time exploring Orange Blossom Road, which had so many open fields, rustic fences, and moody (although somewhat mosquito-ridden) river banks. I can't wait to photograph Jeanna and Peter's wedding in September!
Ellen + Ivan
Ellen and Ivan have actually been married for a year, but they wanted to do some portraits of them in love for their family. I met up with them in Modesto, and we headed outdoors for some railway shots where they risked getting run over by a train all for the sake of good back light. Seriously. I can't imagine they'll be crossing tracks with me anytime soon. We also did some photos in their home, which was nice and cozy. They were both so good-natured and bright and fun to photograph!
Yen Yen + Davin Engagement!
Yen Yen just so happens to be my second cousin, but since we have a very large extended family and grew up on opposite ends of California, I'm just now getting to know her and, of course, Davin. These two are so sweet and easy going that we had a lot of fun going through various parts of downtown San Francisco before ending up at Baker beach. On the sandy hill just above the beach there are a ton of old Cypress trees that have been so windblown that half of their roots are above ground. Yen Yen and Davin were such good sports as I had them climb through the roots and up and down the sandy hill. We're thrilled to photograph their wedding next spring!
