Angela + Brett Orinda, CA

Good morning blog world!  We had a really fun shooting weekend - a San Francisco engagement and gorgeous wedding in Carmel, and hope you all had a super Labor Day weekend too!  To ease back into the work week, we're sharing Angela and Brett's "fairytale casual" wedding!

What is fairytale casual you may wonder?  Well, it's what Angela and Brett instructed their guests to wear, and while it's open to interpretation, one thing that's for certain is that it leads to a whole lot of fun.  Angela and Brett know how to have a good time, and when you bring together some wizards, Aladdin, Jasmin, steampunk inspired  Burning Man costumes, and grown men with butterfly wings running around it's guaranteed to be a crazy party.

These two were married atop the hill in Brett's parents' backyard in Orinda.  Surrounded by tall pines and food and drink carts scattered throughout the property, guests dined on fresh oysters, paella, home brew and creme brûlée.  Of all the weddings that Adm and I have photographed together, this one has to be the most enchanting.  Thank you, Angela and Brett, for marching to the beat of your own drum.

Ms. Lily Bo

Children's photo portrait session in Alameda, California. When we arrived to photograph Adm's niece Lily, she was wearing her Cinderella dress and playing with her dad, Adm's oldest brother Aaron.  Lily is four, and "a big girl now" she will be happy to tell you.  Her Golub traits were quickly made apparent as she cheesed for the camera, ready to pose and smile from ear to ear.

Adm and I had a blast chasing Lily around the house taking her from one type of light to another.  As you will be able to tell from the photos, she is an overabundance of joy.  Right now, her favorite thing is Rapunzel and she kept saying she was having the best day ever.  Even if she was just quoting the movie, we'll take it! Caroline + Kiren Engagement

san francisco engagement session in bernal heights The moment we arrived to Caroline and Kiren's home in Bernal Heights in San Francisco, Caroline greeted us at the door wearing a full-length fuscia evening gown.  Have I mentioned that I love it when my clients take extra special care in their wardrobe for their engagement shoots?  Well if not, I am now.  I think it's fantastic when everyone gets dressed up!  Then again, I did used to play dress up all the time when I was a little kid.  Anyway, we had such a great time taking photos with Caroline and Kiren around their house, their neighborhood parks (which include an amazing view of San Francisco atop Bernal Hill), and a local bar called the Royal Cuckoo that is a real gem of a place.  Between the impromptu asparagus vs. cast-iron pan fight in the kitchen and dark moody portraits at the bar, their shoot was the perfect combo of fun and goofy and classy and intimate.

These two are big adventurers and so we're super excited for their wedding in Yosemite later this summer.

Showing Off Your Wedding Photos

When we hand off the final delivery of wedding images to our clients, we literally give them hundreds of photos - often times close to 1000.  What on earth is one supposed to do with all of these pictures???  One of my brides (and cousin!) from last year, Yen Yen and her husband Davin, kindly allowed me to photograph what they've done with their wedding pictures.  Their photos are decorating their living room wall, and I think they look bright, festive and beautiful!  I also really like the way Yen Yen included her invitation in the wedding set.  Now, wouldn't coming home to a wall of photos from one of the happiest days of your life always put a smile on your face?
