Daisy + Aaron Engagment
We love love love the Marin Headlands. Every time we go there, we discover a new spot - such as the batteries on top of the hill that overlook Rodeo Beach (where the above photo was taken). And luckily, Daisy and Aaron were such troopers trudging up the hill with us to scope out the views. They are getting married in just a few short weeks, and we are really excited for their wedding!

I am always looking forward to my next adventure, but in the middle of wedding season it can be hard to find the time for Adm and I to run off and have one. Instead, we have turned our engagement sessions into mini adventures. Alyssa and Drew were up for a tour of the North Bay and a little bit of trespassing in the Marin Headlands to get some photos of them in a giant horse barn. We had so much fun with them and can't wait until their wedding next summer. Plus, Alyssa's smile is completely contagious so how could we not have a blast with these two?
When Adm and I first moved to Oakland five years ago, I didn't know much about some of my relatives on my dad's side of the family who lived up here. I felt a little apprehensive meeting family for the first time in my twenties at a birthday party in Oakland's Chinatown. After all the milestones we have since shared it is fun to look back on what it first felt like to meet them. I am so lucky to have been accepted as a part of their family with open arms.
So, without further ado, I give you my cousin, Yen Yen and her husband Davin's newborn twins, Bryant and Dylan. The sleepy baby is Dylan, but you have to give him a break because he is a growing boy. It was a lot of fun photographing my brand new baby cousins, and I am sure that there will be many updates on their lives along the way, just as we have followed their parents. A few weeks ago, our good friend, Preston Davis of Divine Order Photography, met up with us in one of our favorite spots, the Marin Headlands, to take some pictures of us. Believe it or not, this was our first professional photo session. I'm ashamed to admit that I was not exactly looking forward to our shoot. I have no problem showcasing other people in front of the camera, but in perfectly hypocritical fashion, I actually do not like having my picture taken. So, during our shoot with Preston, I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun it was! Adm, Kiki and I had a GREAT time running around, holding hands, hugging, kissing, calling wild turkeys, and I think I laughed more during our shoot than I have in a LONG time. I'm pretty sure what started out as nervous giggles turned into full on cackling on my part, and c'mon, who doesn't love to laugh?
I will say that after doing the shoot, I have much more empathy for my couples. Modeling is no easy task, and so that makes us want to work even harder to put our clients at ease so that we can draw out their personalities. We were in luck with Preston since we already knew him and felt pretty comfortable with him. Aside from the fact that we've got a set of great images (something my mom is very happy about), it was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
When we arrived to photograph Adm's niece Lily, she was wearing her Cinderella dress and playing with her dad, Adm's oldest brother Aaron. Lily is four, and "a big girl now" she will be happy to tell you. Her Golub traits were quickly made apparent as she cheesed for the camera, ready to pose and smile from ear to ear.
Adm and I had a blast chasing Lily around the house taking her from one type of light to another. As you will be able to tell from the photos, she is an overabundance of joy. Right now, her favorite thing is Rapunzel and she kept saying she was having the best day ever. Even if she was just quoting the movie, we'll take it! (Photos by both Adm and me)
I love this family. You may recognize Stephanie as one of the bridesmaids in Erika and Colin's wedding last summer. In addition to bridesmaid extraordinaire, she has been one of my best friends since sixth grade, and so I have so many fun memories of playing with her and being at her house with her family. Even though she now lives in Oregon and we're in the Bay Area, we've managed to stay in touch throughout the years. While we were both down in southern California last week, we got together to photograph not only her immediate family, but her extended family as well. It's amazing how time flies and everyone has all grown up - Steph's older sister Jess now has her own baby, Hank (who stole the show for most of the shoot), and their littlest brother Nick, who was five years old when I first met him, is now in college in New York! Yikes that makes me feel old! At any rate, Adm and I had a fun evening with them all in Culver City, and the light was absolutely perfect.
