Grace + Michael in San Francisco, CA

Sometimes I think we've never met a challenge we didn't like. So, when Grace and Michael came to us with the idea to take their wedding on the road, all we could think was how much fun it would be to have an adventure wedding.  Besides, it is the perfect wedding for photojournalists because what adventure doesn't make for a great story?

Grace and Michael wanted to make their wedding special for all of their friends, and they wanted to make it unique to them.  Originally, they had planned for a large June wedding, but when a family health issue arose, they moved their wedding to March and had to come up with a new plan quickly.  What they decided was to have a private San Francisco City Hall ceremony and then take their guests via bus to all of their favorite places in San Francisco, making toasts and sharing memories along the way.  We could go on and on about how much fun these two were to photograph, and how the light in City Hall is always so perfect, but we'll let the pictures do the talking.

Nancy + Eric Pre-Wedding Session

wedding portrait session at golden gate park and japanese tea garden in san francisco, california, asian Nancy and Eric's engagement session was more of a family outing than a photo shoot.  They wanted to take photos with their dog, Royce, but because he wasn't allowed in the Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park, Nancy's sister Helen and her boyfriend Tony came along to watch the little pup, and they simultaneously provided styling help and a big heart balloon bouquet.

After Golden Gate Park, we made Nancy and Eric brave the cold sunset at Sutro Baths for some stunning shots.  We had a lot of fun with this whole bunch, and we really appreciated all of the care and attention Nancy put into the shoot - she had her hair and make-up done earlier in the day, thoughtfully planned out her props (including little Royce), and as you can tell, she and Eric looked amazing in their wedding clothes.  These two are getting married in a month or so with a City Hall wedding, and we wish them all the best!

Hilary + NJ in San Francisco, CA

Hilary and NJ were married at the Cliff House in San Francisco on quite possibly one of the coldest days ever for August.  The cold and misty fog didn't seem to matter though because Hilary was absolutely stunning and NJ very handsome.  We also used the darkness to our advantage to try and create more dramatic and moody portraits, which we did following the ceremony at Sutro Baths (right next door).  Most of their guests were from out of town and I think it must have been such a treat for them to attend a wedding at such an iconic and historic San Francisco spot.  Hilary and NJ, thanks so much for having Adm and I along - we had the best time photographing you two!

Ginny + Sep Engagement

Ginny_Sep_043

Ginny and Sep's engagement session marks the start of our 2010 wedding season, which is shaping up to be a BUSY one (only a few more spots left)!  Woohoo!  We had a great time photographing these two in San Francisco AND lucked out with a beautiful day!  Sep prefaced the session by letting us know that he doesn't enjoy having his picture made, and by the end of the shoot, he was making suggestions for spots to be photographed in.  Now, that's the power of the engagement session: not only do you come away with another set of beautiful photos, but if you're shy in front of the camera, it's great practice for your wedding day and you find out that we're not so scary after all!

We started at Sutro Baths, which is amazing, and I'm embarrassed to admit that neither Adm or myself had been there so it was super fun to explore a new place.  We wandered in and out of the caves, climbed on mossy rocks, and jumped on springy bushes.  Next, we headed to the carousel at Golden Gate Park where I pulled out the viewfinder for a few photos with the square vintage look.  Ginny and Sep were so sweet to each other throughout the shoot, and they had great laughs!  Their wedding is going to be a blast!
