Ariadne + Nicholas in Pasadena, CA

Ariadne and Nicholas were married in Pasadena, CA, where I pretty much grew up.  Actually, Ariadne and I went to high school together so it was really fun to photograph her wedding in my old stomping grounds.  We hit a number of different spots throughout Pasadena including City Hall for some portraits, before ending up at her parents' house for one of the most beautiful summer backyard weddings that Adm and I have been to.  She and Nicholas live in New Jersey, and so Ariadne's mom did almost all of the planning and coordinating, and she just did a fabulous job.  There were so many sweet details, like the colorful shawls hanging over the backs of the chairs that not only added to the decor, but also served as favors for guests to take home and use as the night went on, or the signs that instructed guests how to play games which were set up in the front yard.  Everything about the wedding felt very natural and comfortable, and we could tell that a lot of thought and care had gone into trying to make guests feel welcome and at home, which is exactly how I remember Ariadne from high school.  She was always calm and collected, and genuinely expressed her care for other people and what was going on with them.

Although Ariadne and Nicholas had a short engagement, from the way they were with each other on their wedding day, we think they'll have an infinitely long marriage.  I guess it goes back to that old saying, "When you know, you know."  Thank you, Ariadne and Nicholas for having us along for your wedding.  We loved documenting you two and your families and friends, and we wish you years of joy.

Judith + Tom in Burlingame, CA

Working with Judith and Tom has definitely been one of our highlights this year!  We had a super fun engagement session with them in the beginning of summer so we knew they were going to have an incredible wedding with lots of smiles and laughs.  They were married the first weekend of October at Kohl Mansion in Burlingame, and despite a last minute change of moving the ceremony indoors because of high winds, everything flowed very smoothly.  For starters, Judith and Tom claimed the mansion as their home for the night by decorating it with personal photos and making guests feel cozy and comfortable.  Another one of my favorite features was that Judith had not one, but THREE dresses she wore throughout the night.  Judith and Tom also wowed everyone with the most incredibly choreographed first dance that I've ever seen!  In addition to showing off his amazing dance moves, Tom also surprise serenaded Judith during the reception with a few of his groomsmen as backup.  All in all, it was the perfect celebration for a couple so perfectly suited for one another. Erin + John in Woodside, CA

Preston Davis brought me along to Erin and John's wedding a couple of weeks ago.  They started their day at the gorgeous Rosewood Sand Hill resort in Menlo Park where Erin and her girls leisurely primped while John and his guys hung out poolside.  They were married at the Family Farm, a private estate in Woodside that lies nestled amidst gorgeous redwoods.  With the sun streaming through the redwoods and surrounded by the creaking of the old trees, Erin and John's ceremony could not have been more idyllic.

Ashley + Adam in San Francisco, CA

We had a BLAST photographing Ashley and Adam's wedding!  These two were so easygoing and fun to be around, and not to mention completely photogenic (obviously!).  We had a super fun portrait session at some of their favorite spots in San Francisco including their neighborhood park, the best rice pudding shop (Loving Cup in Russian Hill), and the roof of their apartment building.  Their ceremony was at the beautiful Grace Cathedral followed by a gorgeous and sparkly reception in the Spanish Suite of the Clift Hotel.  We can't say enough good things about working with this awesome couple so we'll let the photos do the talking.  Here are some details about the day, which flowed seamlessly thanks to wedding coordinator Chelsea Bowman, who was a joy to work with!

Ashley and Adam's Photo Booth

As I'm getting ready to post Ashley and Adam's wedding photos (probably will happen this Friday), I wanted to first share some images from their photo booth.  The reception was in the Spanish Suite of the Clift Hotel in San Francisco, and while it was a gorgeous space, there wasn't a whole lot of extra room for the booth.  We ended up using what is normally the coat closet so that the photo booth was about half the size that it usually is.  In this case, size didn't matter because Ashley and Adam and all of their guests still had an awesome time!  Apparently, mustaches on chopsticks are ageless because they have generational appeal (we're talking four year olds to grandpa ages)!  Ashley was pretty specific about her props (nothing cheesy!) so we had mustaches, whiteboards and a couple of empty gold frames from Etsy.  Check out their video below:

Emily + Craig in San Francisco, CA

Emily and Craig were married at the San Francisco Film Centre in the Presidio on a beautiful, albeit windy, day.  I always love photographing veils, and I especially love it when the wind naturally makes them fly.  Surrounded by their closest family and friends, the two exchanged written vows to one another in a beautiful Jewish ceremony.  Many many congratulations to these newlyweds!
