A few weeks ago I met up with Lizzie and Willis in the dark just before sunrise on an overlook above the Golden Gate Bridge in the Marin Headlands. In my ten years of being a wedding photographer, I can count on one hand the number of sunrise sessions I’ve done with my couples. But you know, I actually love them (full disclosure: I’m a morning person), and there’s definitely something special about being outside and awake before everyone else. Getting home (at 9am!) in time to have a still warm bowl of oatmeal leftover from breakfast was also pretty great. And then there’s also that light. It’s still soft and golden but maybe a touch more vibrant. Lizzie and Willis were game for hiking out to a spot that I learned about from other clients (thanks, Nadia and Eduardo!) and watching the sun come up over the city and bay was one of those moments that definitely didn’t feel like work. These two are now married and hopefully enjoying newlywed bliss. Take a look at their super pretty sunrise session in one of my favorite spots.
