I loved photographing Randa and Chrisna's engagement session in different parts of San Francisco. Part of the fun (and challenge) of photographing people, and especially couples, is trying to figure out their personalities and dynamic in a very short amount of time, kind of like speed dating. Prior to their engagement session, I had only had a phone chat with Randa and Chrisna so essentially we were strangers meeting for the first time on a random deserted street corner in SF. Not sketchy at all. ; ) As is often the case, it takes a little while to "warm up" but these two ended up being so easy to photograph and rolled with everything I asked of them.
I kind of love that being a photographer gives me a pass to push a lot of social boundaries. For example, when have you ever wiped strands of hair from a stranger's face? Or asked someone who had a fear of heights to climb on a swing at the top of the city? It's a strange and wonderful job, and I so appreciate having clients who trust me with these moments.
